May 9th 2009, Wedding, Wentbridge House Pontefract - Matthew and Lucy

One of the shortest venue to church journeys of the year on Saturday when Matthew and Lucy married at St John's, Wentbridge's village church before celebrating at Wentbridge House literally next door. So close in fact that for once I left he car at Wentbridge House and actually walked (my usual shall I walk or drive query threshold is about 100yards!).

Blue skies and sunshine as we left church for the confetti assault before Matthew and Lucy were whisked off for a short drive to allow time for the guests to make their way back to Wentbridge House to await the happy couples return.

The weather forecasters for once had guessed correctly and the rain held off until we were literally stepping through the door for the wedding breakfast. Talk about perfect!

The clip above contains some of the images used in the demo playing during the evening reception

May 7th 2009, Wedding album design - Graphistudio albums

It's been a busy few weeks of album design as plenty of this years (and some of last) wedding couples have chosen the photographs for their wedding albums. The Italian Graphistudio story books offer infinite layout possibilities and as I personally design each and every album I always want to ensure each bride and groom have a wedding album totally unique to them. The following short clip shows fifteen different page layouts from the recently designed Graphistudio albums

May 2nd 2009, Wedding St Austin's Wakefield to Newmillerdam - Antony and Catherine

Antony and Catherine married at St Austin's church in Wakefield on Saturday. Catherine had chosen a Horse and Carriage to take her to the church and following the ceremony the Horses were put to work again to transport the newly weds to Newmillerdam fore the photographs.

With great weather and a Horse and carriage to wait for the Ice Cream van at Newmillerdam was a welcome sight and did good business before and after the photos! With photographs out of the way we made the short journey to Hotel St Pierre at the top of the hill for the wedding breakfast and evening reception.

May 1st 2009, Wedding Hazlewood Castle near York - Glenn and Penny

Following on from their pre-wedding shoot back in February it was good to catch up with Glenn and Penny again on Friday for their wedding at Hazlewood Castle near York. Following their civil ceremony in the Castle the couple and guests were entertained in the courtyard by a string quartet as we captured the formal and informal family photographs of Glenn and Penny with their wedding guests.

Although rain stopped play before the end of the photos, Glenn and Penny were keen to get back outdoors for some more images around the blossom covered grounds of Hazlewood Castle so a careful eye on the weather allowed us to steal a quick five minutes before the wedding breakfast!

The evening ended with a few photos outside before Glenn and Penny returned to their guests for more dancing.

April 13th 2009, Wedding, Walton Hall Waterton Park Wakefield - Matt and Heather

A Bank holiday and typically un-British weather (It was dry and bright!). Matt and Heather married in a civil ceremony at Waterton Park on Monday afternoon. With plenty of laughter throughout the ceremony from Matt, Heather and their wedding guests we knew it would be a fun afternoon and weren't disappointed! Photographing possibly the most informal, formal images of the year certainly made the time fly and quickly we were inside for speeches and the wedding breakfast.

After dark we headed outside for some more photos of the happy couple before we bid them farewell, leaving Matt and Heather practising Wheel Barrow racing! (And they were both stone cold sober!)

April 12th 2009, Wedding. Hazlewood Castle - Noel and Amanda

It was good to catch up with Noel and Amanda again on Sunday for their wedding at Hazlewood Castle. Following their pre-wedding shoot only a few weeks previous both Noel and Amanda were visibly relaxed and at ease having their photo taken, something that always makes my job just that little bit easier!

With some good bright weather as we left St Leonard's chapel at Hazlewood Castle we had to make some quick decisions on various locations to avoid any squinty pictures or just as bad, my shadow in the shots (Check out some photographers websites for fantastic combinations of guests squinting into the bright sun and the photographers shadow clearly visible in the bottom of the pic!). Following a few formal images we headed off into the grounds of Hazlewood Castle for some more photographs of just Noel and Amanda.

Noel and Amanda Added: Thank you for the amazing photos - we will no doubt catch up in more detail when we get back from honeymoon - we have no idea at the moment as to where to start trimming the photos down for the album - the photos really get over just what a happy occasion it was and are exactly the sort of photos I had in my mind

So many of our guests have said what a great job you did - even before they saw the slideshow in the evening - which was superb and really gave everyone a buzz to see the results

4th April 2009, Wedding. Hodsock Priory - Gemma and Neil

Gemma and Neil married yesterday at Hodsock Priory near Blyth in Nottinghamshire. Blue skies abound and the blossom in full bloom helped create a near fairytale setting for Gemma and Neil's wedding.

The following short clip features the images used in last nights screen show displayed for all Gemma and Neil's guests to view, I have added a few of the later after dark images just to complete the story of their wedding day.

Although already this year I've visited Hodsock Priory several times for pre-wedding shoots, this is my first visit since the Pavilions re-opened and the work George and his team have put into rebuilding this area is easy to see and certainly appreciated by the guests.

The civil ceremony took place in The Pavilions, the big windows created a bright and airy feel to the room and certainly helped photography! Following the ceremony the couple and guests celebrated on the lawn and we got down to work with the more formal photographs Neil and Gemma had requested.

With the formal shots out of the way it was playtime and we headed out into the grounds for some more relaxed shots of Neil and Gemma and their bridal party before finishing off with Neil's dad's old Morris Minor which had been suitably adorned with a 'Just married' plaque and the customary old tin cans dangling from the back.

A bright spring day was a sure-fire guarantee of a fiery sunset and thankfully Neil and Gemma saw the potential and were more than willing to come back outside for a few quick photos before their evening reception started.

I'll make no apologies for the large number of photos below, Hodsock Priory is a stunning venue , the weather was perfect and Neil and Gemma were great fun to work with.

Gemma (Bride) Added: Firstly a huge thank you for the absolutely amazing wedding photos - we couldn't be more pleased with them. And thanks for adding great fun to our big day - we have had so many comments about how nice you were and how beautiful the photos are. We've also had some requests for your details for future weddings so you may have some enquiries coming your way!

David Added: Hi Chris - just looked through the wedding gallery and thought what your team did was superb - really captured the moments informal and formal.  They are the best set of wedding photographs I have ever seen.

Emma Added: Brilliant photos, so relaxed and really capture the moment of the day. Will certainly be recommending you to all my friends.

Steve Added: Really great set of photos Chris, I'm a photographer now living in the US and regularly check your blog posts for new photos of back home. Inspiring stuff.

Vicki (Groom's mum) Added: Wonderful!  I love the way that even the formal photos are informal.  You and your team worked so hard all day, and I think you've captured the happiness and love that Neil & Gemma seem to spread wherever they go.  As an amateur photographer myself you've taught me such a lot from these photos.  I love ALL the photographs - it's so difficult to choose from them. I'm just going to have to have the DVD so that I can have them all. It really was such a wonderful day, and as a photographer you made everyone feel at ease.
