Evie and Jame’s Hazlewood Castle Wedding | Hazlewood Castle Wedding Photographer | Yorkshire wedding photography | Say yes to the dress
Evie and James married last week at Hazlewood Castle near York. Their wedding day included a civil wedding ceremony inside Hazlewood Castle’s Old Dining Room followed by a wedding blessing in the Chapel of St Leonard’s within the castle grounds.
The Proposal
James proposed on the morning of my birthday, with baby Arthur helping.
The wedding Venue – Hazlewood Castle
We were initially looking at various venues online, James chose Hazlewood Castle and it was the first venue we looked at. We fell in love with it straight away so we didn’t even look at any other wedding venues
Saying yes to the Dress – Appearing on TV and having expert guidance on choosing your wedding dress.
I had just given birth to my daughter Bluebell when my sister sent me through an application to Say Yes To The Dress. Shortly after sending in the online form, I received numerous phone calls and Skype calls from the production company to assess my suitability. Once they told me I had been successful I was so happy! I first filmed with them over a year ago, when Bluebell was only 5 weeks old. It was such a great experience, the Bridal shop used in the TV programme is called Ava Rose Hamilton in Colne, Lancashire. It was here that Gok Wan along with the fantastic ladies in the dress shop helped me choose my amazing wedding dress . It was such an amazing experience meeting Gok. I only tried on 3 dresses, but I knew my dress straight away. I also wore my Nan’s Tiara, the same one she wore on her wedding day.
The Bridal Party
I chose 4 bridesmaids; my daughter, sister, sister in law and Jame’s step sister. The older girls wore light pink Ted Baker dresses with Ted Baker shawls. The guys suits were from Moss Bros. We wanted a classic look and for them to match the bridesmaids dresses with pink cravats and pocket squares.
The theme of the wedding was a princess winter wonderland! Hazlewood Castle provided the fairy tale backdrop, Christmas trees, crackers, bauble place name holders etc all worked well with the amazing floral work from Fulford Flowers helped set the theme for our wedding. We felt that our wedding was really personal. James mum sadly passed away 6 years ago, so we had lots of touches to McMillian Cancer support, our favours were wedding day pin badges, which lots of our guests wore thought the evening.
The Wedding flowers – Fulford Flowers All the flowers, trees candles etc looked amazing and everything I could have wished for they did a fantastic job at making the Castle look like a fairytale. I wanted a similar style bouquet to what my mum had on her wedding day and Cheryl worked her magic to create something very similar.
The First Dance
The evening reception took place in Hazlewood Castle’s Great Hall. Our first dance was to A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman. James and I love that song and I love the meaning behind it.
Stand out Moments from your wedding day?
“It has to be walking down the aisle and seeing James and Arthur at the end waiting for me. The time spent with our family and friends was very precious and special to us both”
Any tips for future brides?
“If you choose a larger wedding dress for the day, consider a second smaller and lighter dress for your evening reception, it would make dancing so much easier”
Any suppliers you’d like to mention?
“All of our wedding suppliers were fantastic!”
