Award winning wedding photographer Chris Chambers photographs up to 80 weddings per year and is one of the most sought after wedding photographers in the Yorkshire region. He is offering an insight into his business and distinctive shooting style in a  two day wedding photography workshop held at the exclusive Hazlewood Castle wedding venue near Leeds and York.

Day one will start with a indoor tutorial where Chris will show you his well used time saving tips and tricks that ensure the maximum impact edits are completed as quickly as possible. He’ll also demonstrate the actions and plug ins he uses to quickly create big impact wedding photos.

During the two day workshop you’ll have hands on shooting time with models including a woodland shoot in the bluebells, inside and outside of Hazlewood Castle as we explore photo locations Chris will demonstrate his techniques and explain how he creates the big wow images that his clients love.

Day two will primarily focus on the business of wedding photography, Chris will discuss his business strategies including marketing and how he attracts his new clients, how to maximise your online print sales (Through his online gallery Chris sells over 4000 images per year) and speeding up your workflow right through to the final album design. Both days will involve lots of practical tuition. Refreshments and lunch are included both days.

All attendees will also receive a free exclusive Photoshop action pack as used by Chris in his editing workflow.

By the end of the workshop you’ll come away armed with not only great images to embellish your portfolio but also a whole new workflow strategy and important information on how to attract new customers and maximise the sales potential of each wedding through what you shoot and how you offer them online. Great advice and information for anyone starting out in the wedding photography business or seasoned pros looking for a fresh outlook.

THE ITINERARY

Day One – May 1st Creating the image

Start 10.00  Finish around 18.30

Introductions and a short slideshow of wedding images with coffee and croissants.

Equipment talk – look at the equipment used to create the wedding photographs and the logic behind packing each piece of kit ready for your wedding day. We’ll also discuss the importance of back up kit and the security of your files during the wedding day.

Workflow – how to get the maximum impact from your images and prepare online ready files as quickly as possible. Chris will demonstrate his most frequently used Photoshop workflow actions many of which are included within the free action pack for all attendees.

Model bridal shoot with bride and groom models around the stunning Hazlewood Castle looking at speed posing, lighting and off camera flash. We’ll shoot outdoors regardless of the weather to give you a real insight into maximising available light on winter wedding days. We’ll stay outside for any possible sunset and then shoot after dark for a superb night shoot making the most of Hazlewood Castle after dark.

We aim to finish around 18.30

Day Two – may 2nd  Maximising your wedding photography turnover

Start 09.00  Finish around 16.30

Marketing – including social media, advertising, blogging, and the all important client consultation – Chris will explain how he books eighty weddings per year even during an economic downturn.

Workflow – The office routines. Chris will talk through his office workflow and how he manages day to day office tasks and wedding preparation in a very busy environment.

Shooting to sell – Chris will guide you through his wedding shot list and preparations to ensure that he not only plans thoroughly, but also looks at ensuring he comes away with the album images and those his clients, their family and friends will buy.

Online Sales – Combining workflow and shooting to sell, Chris will explain his online print sales strategy and how he manages to sell over 4000 images per year from his website.

At some point during the day we’ll fit in lunch (Provided) and coffee stops with a view to finishing around 17.00

Anyone wishing to stay over at Hazlewood Castle during or before the workshop can take advantage of a special delegate rate.

Equipment you’ll require:

  • Camera, flash and lens set up. Ideally covering focal lengths from around 28mm through to 200mm and an ability to use the flash off camera. A tripod / monopod for the after dark shoot is recommended.
  • Laptop computer: PC or Mac with card reader and Photoshop / Lightroom. If you don’t have either Photoshop or Lightroom download the 30 day trial version from the Adobe website a few days before the course begins
