Join me in Central London for three days of Cityscape Photography. From our location close to Tower Bridge we have the City, Canary Wharf and Westminster all within easy reach for our photography workshop.
Day One Sunday 16th November Meet at 1430, sunset is at 1609 and we’ll continue working after dark and finishing between 11 and midnight with a stop for dinner along the way
Day Two: Monday 17th November – We’ll leave the hotel early to capture dusk and blue hour along the River Thames before being in position to make the most of any sunrise before heading for Breakfast. Our day will continue with long exposures and photography into the evening with a second night shoot
Day Three: Tuesday 18th November Another early start to beat the rush and capture the city as it awakens. We’ll finish after lunch around 1400.
During the workshop, we will be working on
- Landscape composition – using lead in lines, rule of thirds, separation and image structure.
- Focusing, hyperlocal distance and maximising depth of field.
- Long exposures with the use of filters. Deciding when your landscape photograph will work as a long exposure, how to select the correct exposure duration and filters required to create.
- High Dynamic Range (HDR) photographs with exposure bracketing,
- Focus stacking and editing
- Creating panoramic landscape photographs
- Produce modern fine art black and white images. During a post workshop zoom I will demonstrate my Lightroom and Photoshop techniques for creating fine art style images
Photographic equipment required:
- A sturdy tripod is essential for landscape and long exposure photography
- Filters are available for you to use on this workshop.
- Lenses from wide angle to around 70mm. Lenses with a filter thread are ideal as these allow the use of filters, some extreme wide angle lenses such as 12-24mm don’t allow the use of conventional filters.
- A cable release for long exposures is an ideal and inexpensive way of activating your camera shutter. A remote with start / stop will also work for Bulb exposures
- Camera rain cover – either a bespoke cover or a simple plastic bag to protect your camera from the element
Fitness Level 1/5 Easy terrain and very few inclines.
