As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing numerous proposals across this beautiful county, from windswept moors and waterfalls to stunning wedding venues and grand castles.
Both proposal photography packages include attendance from before the planned proposal time to ensure I am all set and ready for the big moment, capturing the proposal and reactions discretely before a photoshoot around the venue or location. All packages include travel for wedding venues within 30 minutes of WF10 5EW which includes Hazlewood Castle, Allerton Castle, Wentbridge House, Carlton Towers and Rudding Park, for venues a little further afield, please contact me for a bespoke quote.

Ten Tips for Planning the Perfect Surprise Proposal
- Choose a meaningful location. Pick somewhere special — maybe where you first met, shared a memorable day out, or a spot that reflects your story or grandeur of the proposal. Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Cumbria have endless options, from castle grounds to sweeping vistas
- Think about timing. The golden hour (just before sunset) gives the most romantic light for photographs. Early mornings can also be great if you want privacy.
- Get professional help. Your proposal photographer can help plan logistics, light, and the best angles — and even help keep the secret.
- Keep it natural. The best reactions happen when your partner isn’t expecting a camera. I’ll blend into the background to capture everything discreetly.
- Dress for the moment. Suggest a reason to dress nicely — perhaps dinner afterwards or a “day out” — so you both look and feel your best.
- Hide the ring smartly. Make sure it’s safe and accessible, but not obvious. Avoid bulky boxes if you can!
- Consider the weather. Yorkshire’s charm includes unpredictable weather — have a backup plan, like a nearby indoor spot or covered area.
