Catherine and Alex’s Stubton Hall Wedding | Stubton Hall Wedding Photorapher | Stubton Hall Weddings
Summer already seems a long and distant memory, it was earlier this summer that I was fortunate enough to photograph the wedding of Catherine and Alex at the amazing Stubton Hall near Newark. A day of mixed showers and sunny spells, rounded off with a great sunset. Here we leave it to Catherine and Alex to provide the details and tell us about their wedding at Stubton Hall.
“Alex proposed in Newcastle, which is where we meet as students, many years ago! Alex wanted to go back to a place called Jesmond Dene, and specifically a waterfall here. However, we couldn’t find exact place, so he chose somewhere equally as beautiful by a river. It was a magically experience and fabulous to be back in Newcastle where it all started”
The Wedding Venue – Stubton Hall
Catherine “Stubton Hall is the perfect wedding venue. It is set within beautiful grounds and the interior is equally as exquisite, perfect for photos and for the typical British weather! We knew from the moment we first looked around that no where else would match it as our wedding venue. ”
The wedding Theme
“We didn’t really have a specific theme, we wanted our wedding to be romantic, stylish and modern but still retain some traditional elements. We feel the colour scheme achieved this alone, but choosing Stubton Hall as our wedding venue gave it the extra wow factor. The blues suits also made it look very modern.”
The Wedding Dress
“The dress was from Northallerton Bridal and designed by Mori Lee. It was the 5th dress I tried on and I knew as soon as put it on, that this was the one.
Flowers and Floral arrangements
“Michelle from Jacaranda flowers provided our amazing wedding bouquets and table centrepieces. Catherine’s favourite flowers are the Cafe au Lait Dahlia and Peonies so she knew she wanted to use them. We even chose a June wedding for the peonies! Alex had already chosen the suits and cravat colour so this then helped us create the colour pallet for the flowers. Michelle is an artist when it comes to flowers and the end results were just amazing.”
The wedding ceremony took place in the bright and airy Music Room at Stubton Hall.
What were the main stand out and memorable moments for you both?
The main stand out moment has to be the wedding ceremony itself and exchanging our vows. We feel blessed to have been able to share this special time with our friends and family.
Which is your favourite photo / photographs from the day?
We love all the photos as Chris is fantastic photographer and is amazing at capturing the light. One of our favourites has to be the confetti shots. The happiness in our faces shows what day meant
The Bridesmaids Dresses and the Groomsmen’s Suits
“Catherine had four bridesmaids in total. Her sister was Maid of Honor, her cousin came over from America to join us, she also chose a very good friend from university and a life long friend who She actually used to babysit for They were dressed in pale grey which complimented the peach cravats really well”.
The guys went to Peter Posh in Birmingham. Alex chose them because they had a blue suit in the shade he wanted. He also chose the cravat colour as the peach really popped out against the blue of the suit
The above wedding photograph of Alex and Catherine on the main staircase at Stubton Hall was awarded a Gold Award by the Guild of Photographers in their Image of the Month Competition. You can view this and other award winning wedding photographs here
The Orangery at Stubton Hall was the perfect setting for the wedding breakfast. “Styling was provided by Fran at Modern Heritage She is a magician when it comes to styling, Our wedding cake was supplied by No.82 Cake Studio, Darren produced an amazing and delicious cake. Our wedding favours were Macarons from Macaron Marlo, they made them specific to our colour scheme and we were able to choose the flavours too (which were amazing!).”
How did you personalise the wedding day to the two of you?
“We created our own photo booth with props as our guest book. We used a Polaroid cameraso guests could take group photos and then write us a personal message. We are so pleased we did this as it great to look through, bringing back some fab memories. Plus the photos and message get more hilarious as the evening went on!”
“We chose Wonderful tonight by eric Clapton for our first dance. This song meant a lot to us and seemed like the perfect choice of song for our first dance.”
Any tips to brides currently planning their wedding?
Catherine “My main tip would be don’t stress and just enjoy the day. Take five minutes to sit down with your new husband and just spend a moment together. It is so important to reflect on the ceremony and pause to take in the day together.”
