Allerton Castle Wedding Story | Lauren and Bretts’ Allerton Castle Wedding Photographs
Late Autumn we joined Lauren, Brett and their wedding guests at Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire for their incredible black tie wedding day. From bridal prep to an amazing fireworks display we were on hand to capture all the fun and excitement of their wedding day. Read on to hear about their wedding in their own words…
Lauren and Brett chose Allerton Castle for their wedding venue, but how long did the process take?
Lauren “We looked at Allerton Castle first, after seeing it on social media I wanted to visit here first. We did look around 3 other venues (because Brett said we had to, we couldn’t just look at one venue and book) So after pointlessly visiting other wedding venues we came back to Allerton Castle, the first one.
The castle is just so stunning and unique, and once you see it for yourself you cannot picture your wedding anywhere else because nothing comes close.”
Lets go back to the proposal, who proposed and how?
Lauren “Brett proposed to me nearly 2 years to the date before our wedding. 17/11/2021. He proposed in Disney world in Florida because its fair to say I’m a Disney fan and its one of our favourite places on earth. After having our holiday cancelled and moved several times because of covid. I never in a million years expected the proposal, up until a week before we didn’t even know we were 100% going. So you can imagine my surprise when he was on one knee infront of the castle in Magic Kingdom”
Working in fashion it must have been a task to choose your amazing wedding dress. How long did it take to say yes to the dress?
Lauren “Saying yes to the dress was a TASK! I knew exactly what I wanted but couldn’t find it. I dragged my mum and bridesmaids to 14 different wedding dress shops Not finding any I truly loved, I decided to have my wedding dress bespoke made. So it truly is one of a kind”
Please tell me about your wedding flowers and florist
Lauren “V- floral from Pocklington was our florist. Red roses have always been my favourite. So when I saw online some of the stunning work she did with roses I knew that was the place to go.
We wanted to keep the flowers in theme with our timeless classic wedding style, so we only used red and white roses. All the displays where made with red and white roses. However my bouquet was a sphere of only red roses and the only other person with just red was Brett, a single red rose button hole.”
Wedding days often contain small personal touches, not all are obvious to everyone, please tell me about how you made the wedding personal to just the two of you
Lauren “All the small finishing touches in the little details. The music we spend hours picking for every individual moment that meant something to us. The centre pieces that my mum made for all the tables. (That my dad threatened, many times before the wedding, they’d open up a florist and sell from their dining room). We shipped over our favourite sweets from Florida for the present on the table for every guest,
Amazing suppliers/vendors that made everything seamless and stress free, photographers, videographers, lighting, music, hair, make-up we didn’t have a single issue. And of course, Sophie and an incredible team at Allerton Castle, we couldn’t of asked for more.
And not to forget the fairytale setting of our venue finished everything off perfectly”
Your First Dance – A grand entrance down the Great Hall staircase and into first dance, what song did you choose and why?
Lauren “We chose ‘Can you feel the love tonight?’, by Elton John.
A dramatic intro to the song we combined with a dramatic entrance down the huge staircase and into the Great Hall.
It’s one of our all time favourite songs and so was an obvious choice for our first dance. (Plus of course its a Disney song)
We also had a different version of the same song played during our firework display later in the evening”
Your wedding photo gallery had over 800 images, which is your favourite photograph and what makes it so special to you?
Lauren “It has to be the one of me on the Great Hall staircase and Brett at the top looking over the gallery, not only does it capture the simplicity of my dress and classic look of Bretts’ suit.
It highlights the stunning grandeur of the venue, and its dramatic/breathtaking beauty, for me it shows perfectly how flawless and show stopping our day was. “
What advice would you give a couple planning their wedding day and reading this?
Don’t hold back. Have everything you ever imagined wanting. You only get to do it once, we went hilariously over budget, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. We can look back and honestly say there was nothing missing and it was perfect.
Every wedding day has those unforgettable moments, what was your most memorable moment?
Lauren Impossible to pick just one! There we so many moments during the wedding day it’s impossible to choose just one….
- First looks with Bridesmaids and my dad
- The entrance of bridesmaids and myself, with the incredible trio playing.
- Ceremony (saying our own vows were lovely and so memorable)
- Speeches
- First dance
- FIREWORKS!
