Manor House Wedding Story | Alice and Ryan’s Manor House Wedding Photographs

Alice and Ryan were married at the amazing Manor House, Lindley near Huddersfield earlier this summer, read on to hear about their wedding day in their own words.

You chose to marry at Manor House Lindley, what made this the ideal wedding venue for you?

Alice “We looked at four venues. We had our heart set on a country barn wedding but when we arrived it didn’t feel right for us. Whilst in the area we went for a coffee at a nearby modern hotel and the service was second to none. This made us re-think our barn style wedding as the hotel service was amazing.

Back to the drawing board… Googling hotel wedding venues with modern decor, we found Manor House and the moment we stepped foot in there to meet Jane, we just knew it was the one. The package was really good, the staff were amazing, the decor was beautiful, everything was included to the point that you had set meetings with them, they were basically your wedding planners, ensuring it was as stress free as possible for us. It was perfect”

Please tell me about the proposal

Alice “Ryan proposed on our second holiday to The King Jason hotel in Protaras Cyprus. It was towards the end of our holiday, we went to the same restaurant where two years prior he had asked me to be his girlfriend. It was also the same date…21st October! We’d ordered champagne and Ryan got down on one knee at the table to ask me to marry him! “

Saying yes to the dress, how long did it take to find the one?

Alice “I visited two shops. The second was Off The Peg by Dotty Bridal. I went to see a specific wedding dress that I had seen advertised online but it wasn’t right. Unbeknown to me one of the four I had photos of, I had put a tag on to try in the shop and one of those was the one! I wasn’t too fussy!”

Please tell me about your wedding flowers and floral arrangements on your wedding day

Alice “The florist we used was stems design. Manor house recommended them to us. The detail was a step above the rest…little things such as labelling all of the button holes. We had all our meetings with them online due to lockdown but the service wasn’t compromised. We didn’t worry about it one bit and the flowers exceeded our expectations. We did contact a couple of other suppliers but even the initial contact delays etc made us worry so we stuck with Stems and we are so glad we did!”

Every wedding day is unique and yours had two elements which after photographing well over 1000 weddings were new to me, one of these was Scenting your wedding

Alice “Manor House contacted us two weeks before our wedding as a company that supplies some of their candles was going in to the wedding business and wanted a wedding to show what they can offer. That week they arranged for me to meet with Snug at their premises in Elland.

We chose two scents for our wedding and agreed on the candle and extra decor arrangements for these. We had already arranged some candles with Stems so Snug contacted them regarding working with them etc. Snug Aromatics even provided all of our guests with a mini candle with our wedding scent as a favour so that when they light it it reminds them of our big day. We were so lucky that Manor House and snug chose us and honestly, people walk in to our house now and say that it smells of our wedding day. How perfect is that! “

A second and unique feature of your wedding day were streamers instead of confetti, these made for interesting and fun photographs

Alice “We needed an alternative for Confetti, I’d seen a wedding photograph with streamers instead of Confetti so we decided to have streamers, Although I bought far too many, they worked really well and made everyone laugh”

How did you personalise your wedding to the two of you?

Alice “Our wedding venue was perfectly suited to what Ryan and I are all about. It’s modern with a clean finish but also has a party atmosphere. Our wedding songs were all around our Rock n Roll theme as we love dancing rock n roll and our singing waiters got the party started!

Every fine detail down to the signs on the tables were all matched to our theme. We had our wedding cake stand made to fit our cake and venue perfectly, my shoes were hand made from Italy …it’s the small things that can really make a wedding personal”

What did you choose for your first dance and why?

Alice “Our first dance song was Queen- crazy little thing called love ( We asked the band to start slow and then up the tempo mid way through) we wanted to keep the rock n roll theme we had throughout the day but didn’t want a slow song, that’s just not us!”

From your gallery, which photograph make you smile the most and do you have a favourite from the day?

Alice “Wow, our favourite photo! We have so many… I love the one of us Infront of the bar, I remember capturing it during courses, I was merry, taking in the wedding and think it captures the venue perfectly. Ryan loves the photo of us walking away from the Manor House as it is natural and captures our beautiful venue and it was one of our first married moments.

Wedding Photographs which make us smile – We have two… Our baby girl going down the aisle in a remote control range rover. She waved at everyone at the end of the aisle. The second is when one of our best men ran up to a waitor who had fallen and dropped cutlery. Little did he know he was a singing waitor who got the party started! His face of concern was priceless. Obviously, Ryan and I knew what was about to happen!”

Chris – So after choosing 4 photos, I have added one to the right and the other three below in the gallery”

What advice would you give newly engaged couples reading this?

Alice “You need to choose the right venue with the right team! Manor House made it all enjoyable instead of stressful. You need to book your suppliers in advance to get the best…we booked ours 18 months in advance. Ryan said let the bride do the planning and the groom pay for it all, that worked for us! Don’t settle for anything less than perfect as you get one shot at your wedding day”
