Frances and Jacob were married earlier this summer at the amazing Allerton Castle, North Yorkshire. Although a rainy day to begin with, it certainly didn’t dampen spirits and with such a stunning wedding venue for the photographs we weren’t short of interior locations. (and of course Frances and Jacob were still keen to make use of the grounds for their wedding photographs, enduring a few showers to create lasting memories.

The Wedding Venue – Allerton Castle

“I initially wanted  a church wedding,  I didn’t want to just get married in a typical wedding venue room with four walls and a carpet, I wanted something different. Then as soon as I saw the staircase and Great Hall at Allerton Castle I was sold! It was the only venue we looked at, we knew nothing else would come close. ”

The wedding theme and style

“We really liked a classical and traditional feel.  We visited a wedding fair at Priory Cottages to see the work of Natasha Jane Events who was showcasing there and we loved the flowers she had on show so decided to go with those. I didn’t want it to be over the top so we decided to leave the staircase plain to really show the stunning features at Allerton Castle.”

Bridal preparations and The wedding Dress

Frances and her Bridesmaids started their initial preparation at Nearby Goldsborough Hall before making the journey to Allerton Castle to complete their preparations.

Frances “I chose Sarah Turgoose for my makeup and Kelly Hanks for my hair. I’ve been a customer of Sarah’s for a while now and she was the must have make up artist for my wedding. “

“My dress was Olivia Grace from The Bridal Affair. Originally I wanted something plain (like Meghan Markle’s dress). I saw a similar dress I loved at a wedding fair and went to try it on. I loved it but Lisa at The Bridal Affair showed me another dress which was their “Disney Princess”. I reluctantly agreed to try it on and fell in love with it. I was then stuck between the two dresses. We went back the week later and I decided on the Disney dress.”

The Groom and Groomsmen’s suits

Frances “For Jacob and the Groomsmen’s suits we wanted something traditional but not just a normal suit that you may wear to work. We decided on navy quite quickly as we thought that this would suit our time of year  We chose tails, again to be different to a normal lounge suit and have the more classical feel that would fit in with Allerton Castle.”

The wedding Ceremony and Allerton Castle’s amazing  staircase in the Great Hall

Frances “I was surprisingly calm walking down the stairs into the wedding ceremony. Libby and Jessica at Allerton Castle really helped me remain calm by ensuring everything ran smoothly. I must admit the stairs themselves did make me a little nervous but it’s such a grand entrance that any nerves are quickly forgotten. ”

The Wedding Highlights

Frances “Other than marrying my husband of course, my highlight was the rain! I’d been watching the forecast for nearly a month before the day and I was extremely stressed that it was forecast rain. As it got closer we realised it was going to rain all day and there was  nothing we could do about it. I really thought it would ruin our day but it actually made it better!

We couldn’t be happier with the photos outside in the rain” – Thankfully Allerton Castle is an amazing wedding venue regardless of the weather.

The Wedding Speeches

Frances “During the speeches I was so nervous to hear my dads. I also didn’t even notice you and your second photographer taking pictures, afterwards  It was lovely to see the photographs and everyone’s reactions throughout.”

The First Dance

Frances “Our first dance song was by Shania Twain, ‘You’re still the One’  I wanted to do the dirty dancing dance but realised wearing my dress there was a chance I’d do Jacob an injury!”

Your Favourite wedding Photograph?

Frances “With so many amazing wedding photographs it’s hard to decide on my favourite. I really like the ones outside on the steps with my veil but I also love the one with me and Jake at the bottom of Allerton Castle’s staircase. ”
