ANISHA AND VIKESH’S HAZLEWOOD CASTLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | REAL WEDDINGS AT HAZLEWOOD CASTLE NEAR YORK

Back in Early October and unseasonably warm weather at Hazlewood Castle for the wedding of Anisha and Vikesh. With afternoon tea and welcome drinks for the guests before the ceremony and an extended wedding reception before wedding breakfast and evening celebrations in the Great Hall.  Anish and Vikesh talk about their day and how a childhood dream became reality.

You Chose Hazlewood Castle a long time ago, even before you met Vikesh, what drew you to the castle and made it your dream wedding venue?

I saw Hazlewood Castle in a wedding magazine when I was a teenager and I was immediately drawn to the wedding venue due to its rustic look and countryside location. As a young girl, I grew up reading fairy tales and always wanted to get married in a castle which is why Hazlewood Castle fit perfectly. The castle is situated in beautiful woodlands with many areas to enjoy the scenic views of the countryside.

Please tell me about the proposal

Vikesh proposed to me in Greece in October 2020. Planning the proposal was extremely difficult due to COVID restrictions worldwide however Vikesh planned the proposal to perfection. He booked us a holiday to Kos for what I thought was a short getaway for us however he had been speaking to the hotel for weeks prior to this to arrange the proposal. In the middle of our holiday, one evening we were heading down to dinner as usual and he suggested taking some photos as the sunset was beautiful that evening. To my surprise, as we headed down towards the beach, rose petals and candles were laid out overlooking the ocean and he got down on one knee. It was the most beautiful evening and he had even organised a photographer to capture the special moment which was incredible.

Saying yes to the dress – how long did it take you to find “the one”?

Surprisingly, it took me one day! I had heard of Wed2b through some friends so I decided to go there and try on some dresses to understand which dress style would suit me best. I told the sales advisor what I had in mind, and she picked out three dresses for me to try on. The first two dresses didn’t suit me well however the third dress was perfect. I hadn’t intended on buying a dress on my first wedding dress shopping trip however this dress ticked every box, and I just had to buy it!

Who supplied the groom and groomsmen’s suits and was there a particular style you were looking for?

“I  wanted to go for a traditional look for our wedding day, so I decided to wear a black tuxedo which I purchased from Moss Bros. My groomsmen also bought their suits from Moss Bros and I was very happy with the way the outfits looked on the day.”

What was the theme for your wedding and how did you show this on the day?

We went for a rustic ivory and blush floral theme for the day as we thought this would complement the natural beauty of the castle well. Luckily, we didn’t need to go overboard with the decorations as the castle has its own character which we didn’t want to overshadow.

Who provided your wedding flowers and what type of flowers / bouquet did you have?

Amaryliss Floral Design in Ossett supplied the bridal bouquet and buttonhole. The bridal bouquet was made up of white roses, white lissianthus, gypsophilia and greenery. Vikesh’s buttonhole matched the bouquet perfectly.

What made your wedding feel personal to you? 

The venue made the wedding feel personal to us. It had been my dream to get married at Hazlewood and once I met Vikesh and we discussed our wedding, it quickly became our dream venue. We got married in October and on the week of our wedding, the weather was horrible but on our wedding day, we were lucky enough to have 20 degrees of sunshine! It really felt like everything had come together to give us the perfect wedding day we always wanted.

Tell me about your first dance, which song did you dance to and why you chose it?

We chose Ed Sheeran – Kiss Me as our first date song because the lyrics were special to us both.

What were your standout moments of the day and memories you’ll cherish forever?

It’s hard to pick specific moments of the day that stood out because from start to finish, the day was perfect. We had the weather on our side and the whole day ran smoothly. We had our best friends and family there which we were so grateful for, and we will cherish this forever.

Do you have any tips for couples planning their wedding day?

Organisation is the key thing to planning a wedding day. There are so many small things to consider so I would recommend a wedding co-ordinator to help you organise the perfect day and ensure nothing is overlooked. I would recommend investing in a photographer and videographer who have worked at your venue before and therefore know the areas where you can get the best photos as these are the photos you will treasure for life.

Which is your favourite wedding photograph and why?

This is a really difficult question because we loved every picture from our wedding day as each picture had a different story. Chris is an incredible wedding photographer who captured each picture to perfection and his supporting team were extremely good too. One of our favourite photographs is the photo taken just after our civil wedding as we were departing our wedding for the confetti departure.
