The Proposal
“Bryan proposed in July 2018, we were on holiday in Croatia and visiting the Krka waterfalls near Split. Bryan proposed in front of the waterfalls”
The Wedding Venue – Wentbridge House
We looked at several different wedding venues, one of the factors we had to take into account was the time constraints, Bryan proposed in July 2018 and we really wanted a Summer 2019 wedding date. We fell in love with Wentbridge House, friendly staff and great service, amazing food and atmosphere in an elegant wedding venue.
Saying Yes to the Wedding Dress
I chose my dress from Broughton’s Bridals in Garforth. The dress was a Mori lee design. I tried six dresses in total and this was the last one to try.
The Bridal Party
The bridesmaids dresses were a real last minute purchase, we’d been let down in our original choices and so bought the dress from Misguided. We chose the style because of the blue colour which really complimented our theme. The Groomsmen’s suits were from Broughton’s Bridal in garforth and again the colour matched the theme perfectly.
Personalising your wedding day
We wanted a classic and elegant theme to the wedding with some modern elements, we used acrylic for a lot of our styling, table plan etc. We also used previous holiday destinations for our table names and included a Polaroid style photo of us from each of the Holidays. The top table was named Florida in anticipation of our honeymoon whilst the bridal party’s table was Croatia after where were engaged.
We donated money to Dogs Trust and also had scratch cards for all guests that were used for free drinks at the bar.
Wedding flowers and Venue styling
Michelle’s Flowers of Pontefract provided our wedding flowers, we chose White Roses for a modern elegant theme. We also had floating candles and used acrylic to create a more modern feel.
The First Dance
I had two choices from Ellie Goulding, we chose to dance to “Still Falling for You” we like Ellie Goulding and the lyrics were especially relevant. My other choice would have also been from Ellie Goulding and so I chose this to walk down the aisle to the song “Love me Like you do”
Stand out moments from your Wedding Day
“On the morning during our bridal preparations I opened a bridal box from Bryan, we used acrylic in out venue styling and he’d match the acrylic theme with a plaque announcing a surprise trip to New York”
“Standing outside the ceremony room waiting for the doors to open and make my entrance. When the doors opened it was such a special moment seeing Bryan standing and waiting fro me at the end of the aisle whilst all our guest looked back”
“On of the pupils form my school sand during the wedding ceremony, Travis used to be one of my pupils and it was really special to have him there singing”
“Later in the day we had Sarah from Sarah on Sax playing Ibiza anthems on the dance floor, surrounded by family and freinds enjoying themselves and having a great time is a memory taht will stick with me for a long long time. ”
Tips for brides planning their wedding day
“Try and enjoy every aspect of the wedding planning and also do what’s right for you and your partner, rather than bow to pressure”
“On the day take a step back, the day goes so quickly it’ll be over in a flash so take time out to saviour the moment together”
Which is your Favourite Photograph from the wedding day?
There are just to many, the photos are amazing and really tell the story of the day. If I had to pick there’d be two, any of the ones from when Hugo, our dog joined us for the drinks reception and also the photo of Bryan looking back down the aisle at me, the doors had just opened and it was our first look to each other, a very special moment”
