Emily and Matthew were recently married at Carlton Towers in East Yorkshire. I asked them a few questions about their wedding day and of course photographs, read on to find out more.

You Chose Carlton Towers for your wedding day, what was it that made Carlton the ideal venue for you?

” We looked at quite a few different types of wedding venues but liked the grandeur of Carlton Towers. As soon as they said the ceremony room was the Venetian Room we knew it was the one as we were visiting Venice when we were engaged!”

Please tell me about the proposal – where, how etc?Matthew replied “Strictly speaking, the proposal was in Verona while we were there for the day whilst away in Venice. Luckily there was a quiet moment in the gardens of Castle Vecchio so I took my chance!” Saying yes to the dress – how long did it take you to find “the one”?

“I found my beautiful dress in the third bridal shop and everything about it was perfect. I would highly recommend Lace & Co in Horbury as they specialise in bohemian, vintage, urban and contemporary wedding dresses. My dress was by the designer Savin London and I fell in love with the glitter tuile and sequined back design”

What was the theme for your wedding and how did you show this on the day?

“The colour scheme was deep red, navy and gold. The suits and bridesmaid dresses ticked this box along with the flowers, table centrepieces & candelabras as well as the lovely Venetian Room.”

Who provided your wedding flowers and what type of flowers / bouquet did you have

The florist was Down to Earth, based in Ossett, Wakefield. The flowers and bouquet consisted of red roses, blush roses and foliage such as eucalyptus. We loved how the flowers were rustic and trailed down the candelabra centrepieces etc.

What made your wedding day feel personal to you?

One thing that did feel personal to us was being able to choose the music for the harpist to play both during and after the ceremony.

Tell me about your first dance, which song did you dance to and why did you choose that?

Our first dance song Michael Buble’s ‘Everything.’ We chose this as it has memories associated with it from when it was released and we started dating.

What were your standout moments of the day and memories you’ll cherish forever?

The standout moment for both of us was when Emily walked into the Venetian Room at the start of our wedding ceremony, walking down the aisle and we saw each other for the first time that day. It’s a moment neither of us will ever forget and the wedding photographs capture it perfectly.

Which is your one favourite wedding photograph and why?

We both really like the black and white photo of us sitting in the back of the wedding car. It’s not one that we would have earmarked as we were having the photo’s but looking back it shows how happy we were and the angle, lighting etc is perfect.
